Innovation Academy Guides Naga City Government on Harnessing AI for Good Governance

The City Government of Naga took a bold step toward digital transformation by inviting Mr. Kenneth Masuhay, Head of Innovation Academy, to deliver a special session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its role in promoting good governance.

The session, attended by elected officials and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Naga, focused on building AI literacy, exploring how AI can be used responsibly and strategically to enhance decision-making and governance, and understanding one of the possible roadmaps for AI adoption in the public sector.

During the session, Mr. Masuhay shared practical insights on why AI adoption is essential for public institutions and provided a hands-on walkthrough on how officials can start using AI tools effectively. He emphasized that while AI offers significant opportunities for efficiency and innovation, it also brings challenges such as ethical use, transparency, and accountability. Understanding these factors, he noted, is key to ensuring AI serves the community’s best interests.

Reflecting on the session, Mr. Masuhay shared his vision for the future of AI in governance:

“Artificial Intelligence opens the door to transformative possibilities—from simplifying everyday tasks to reimagining how governments serve their citizens. When harnessed wisely, AI becomes a force for innovation, transparency, and efficiency in governance. Its true power lies not in technology alone, but in how we use it—with responsibility, ethics, and a steadfast focus on improving lives.”

This initiative underscores Innovation Academy’s mission to empower both public and private organizations with the knowledge and tools to navigate today’s fast-evolving technological landscape confidently. It also reflects Innovation Academy’s commitment to promoting good governance through technology-driven solutions.

As Innovation Academy continues to champion both technical and non-technical training programs, it remains dedicated to equipping leaders with the skills to adapt and thrive in an increasingly digital world.
